Landing pages for search engine marketing are a very important ingredient. A landing page could be anything where visitors are sent including an interior page of a website. Landing pages need some optimization love as well so don’t forget that they need to have certain elements in place for them to function how they are supposed to.

Here are some ideas to help you build an effective landing page:
Think About Your Goals: What is the goal of your landing page? Ask yourself what type of information you are trying to capture with your landing page. If you want emails than that should be the entire focus of the page, if you want a phone call than the page should be designed around that phone number and nothing else.
Be All About Call To Actions: Call to actions will most likely be the most important aspect of your landing page. A landing page without any call to actions might as well be nothing. It doesn’t matter whether you are using it for pay per click or SEO your landing page should always lead your web traffic down the path to whatever it is that you need them to do.
Use Simple Content: Your landing page does not need a serious amount of content. Actually you need to keep your landing page content simple and clean. It is all about having the least amount of distractions as possible. The content should act like a funnel to guide your website visitor down the path to their destination.
Above The Fold: Keep all you design and text above the fold of your screen. You don’t want your web traffic to only see half of your message with the other half being below the fold causing them to have to scroll down. You want your web traffic to have to perform the least amount of actions possible to get to their destination.
When building a landing page always think about your goals and the most optimal layout possible for those goals to be accomplished. It requires a step by step path leading process in order to get your business point across to that website visitor.
