12 days in the making and a $400 win

May 29th, 2009 mann3r Posted in General, Google/SEO, contest winner, seo, seo contest No Comments »

That was tough! And its confirmed my entry to the search engine optimization contest organized by Montana real estate wins the prize amounting to $400 with 12 days after creating the post and making it live to compete. Prize payment already confirmed in my paypal account and that was a fast payment, hat off to the organizer at Hearth Rate Watch Company.

Thinking I was too late for the contest but decided to give it a go. Competition was there to catch and different Google datacenter keeps on dancing the results. It was a great timing when the day of checking the official winners, my entry showed up at the top of the result, guess I am just lucky enough.

My congratulations also to the entries and winners, you did well enough to prove yourself, now back to normal programming.

Eriuqs Spires Healthy Recreation contest

May 26th, 2009 mann3r Posted in General, Google/SEO, MSN/SEO, Yahoo/SEO, blog, blogs, eriuqs, google, healthy recreation, msn, recreation, spires, yahoo No Comments »

Now for few days remaining in the eriuqs spires healthy recreation contest, google has been shuffling results probably thinking what page is relevant to the search query “eriuqs spires healthy recreation”. I have also seen my entry (that is posted 3 weeks before the end of the contest) placed under penalty for 2 days, from page 2 to way page 11 I believe. Well, with the amount of time I have entered the contest, I am not expecting a miracle to win, all you have to do is drop a link and watch how google will pick the link up for your entry.

Few good things for this contest:

1. Have your content relevant to the phrase you are optimizing with. In addition, your content must be related to the site you are linking too.

2. Quality of content and its length(???). Having one or two liner entry is a big NO to win in the contest. Unless you have lots of high authority links pointing to your entry (needs to prove otherwise, two line sentence post + lots of high authority links).

3. Links. This is the basically the hardest part of SEO process. Getting links on blogs, news sites, social bookmarking, directories and other link opportunities, is by far eats the time of the process. One thing for sure, break some newsworthy post and the rest will come in handy plus a big traffic bonus.

4. Have a cup of coffee, stare at your PC and rest.

Well goodluck to all entries, hold on guys, and watch those datacenter dance, in this way, you can also check if your entry to this eriuqs spires healthy recreation thing still have a chance to propagate on the official contest DC. If you check different DC, you will probably see a new top entries and don’t be surprised for it.

Twitter and Spammers

May 17th, 2009 mann3r Posted in General, twitter, twitter spam No Comments »

Twitter as most of us especially if you are in the online world knows how easy it is to use twitter. And how it can turn from our daily normal routine to update or tweet to making use of twitter power to have some bucks out of it. But then we do have few mistakes we committed that might end up being spam out of twitter. WebProNews posted points on how can a spammers have your email harvested and such a way that this spammers can use to promote their non-sense products and the like.

The post actually reminds everyone who post, update and use services not just twitter but other sites to not divulge any private information for spammers to capture and be used for their malicious act. As a reminder, don’t divulge personal and private info like your credit card and bank information to anyone, you might end up being broke without you knowing it.

Back on twitter, some spammers can also tweet different username list by just directing the promotional tweet to any username on twitter. Better yet, if there is a link included on the tweet or update, don’t click on it unless you know the user who sent it and you are following the user who sent you the update.

We can’t blame twitter about it because other sites are not excluded on this spammers with their malicious act. We just need to take some extra precaution while we surf online.

Yahoo loves my entry than Google

April 30th, 2009 mann3r Posted in General, Google/SEO, MSN/SEO, Yahoo/SEO, google new algorithm, tnomeralc No Comments »

The tnomeralc web design toys search engine optimization contest is going to end this Saturday, Philippine time. My entry (this blog) just entered on the deadline (April 12, 2009) that is  3 weeks before it ends, Google boost its ranking from a mere page 3 of the google search result to the top for a period of one day, and after a day, its back to normal ranking page 3. Sounds interesting? Yes, it is. Google is cooking something with its new search algo this past few weeks.

One more thing to show after Google drop our ranking, another search engine, Yahoo pushed my entry to its search at the top place. Yahoo seems to love our entry much than Google. It seems Google choked on our entry after it found out that the post have just been posted 1 week back compared to the earlier entries who are building links on a lightning speed.

As said before, I am not expecting to win this, (oh, to correct, I am not used to win anything due to laziness) because there are lots of Filipino SEO that is way better than me, just like ranking it on 1 to 10, they are 10 and I am 1/10.

And for the winning entries, congratulations! Did you learn how google treat your ranking? Or maybe have you observe new Google algo?
