Conversion Metrics That Are Important to Understand

All of the search engine optimization in the world will not help your business grow if your conversion metrics on your website are just not positioned correctly. If you spend all of your time really worrying about rankings and forget that it is your website that needs to actually perform the final task, you could be missing out on a good amount of business.

I get traffic to my site but nothing happens, what gives?

Does this scenario sound familiar to you? There are lots of websites out there that receive generous traffic numbers but nothing ever happens. It could be a number of things ranging from website design, brand, company name, and overall conversion metrics misplaced on the website.

How should I change my website so that people reach out to me more often?
It really depends on what your goals for your business are. If you rely on the phone ringing then you are going to want to make that phone number visible in multiple areas of your website. If you want leads to come in to your sales department then you are going to want your lead forms as visible as possible.

Does web design play a strong factor in website conversions?
It sure does, but it depends on your situation and your industry. If you haven’t re-designed your website since 1999 and your conversions have really tanked, then it could be your design causing the problems. If you have new design but horrible graphics that don’t render correctly it could be the images. Also think about things like Google ads that might look tacky on your website.

How often do I need to make changes to my website?
It all depends on when things start to turn around with your website conversions. Websites require constant tweaking and changing as you grow so it might require more than you think until things are moving along how they should be.

Conversion metrics are one of those things that never really stop evolving when it comes to a website and business models. You will most likely be altering and changing these for quite some time.
