Bing’s 45 Point SEO Check List

Bing recently came out with their version of an SEO check list that all internet marketers should be trying to follow in some sort of way. Some of the bullet points are very important to talk about and fit into the overall search engine optimization equation very well. Let’s pull out a few that I think are the most important below:

13.Create a custom 404 page so that even if someone encounters an error on your site, they are re-directed somewhere nice.”
Huge! If a visitor lands a 404 page and all they see is a blank page than you are missing out on an opportunity to change that visitor into a lead or even a sale. Customize your 404 page so that your visitors have an opportunity to do something else than leave your website.

“18.Test your site and make sure it appears correctly in all major browsers.”
This is the worst; check your website to make sure it looks correct in all browsers. It shouldn’t look different in other browsers, if it does this needs to be fixed because you could be losing a great deal of potential clients if the site issues are vast.

“25. Do NOT use frames.”
SEO 101 right here, no frames…ever. You use frames on your website you can kiss your SEO good bye. If your site currently uses frames get rid of them as soon as possible.

“31. Send out a newsletter!”

Everything works together to accomplish a similar goal and a newsletter will strengthen your SEO efforts from a branding stand point. A newsletter is another touch point to hit your audience with and it is another tool in the arsenal to show your audience you have what it takes. When someone sees an ad or a webpage of yours floating around in the search engines and they receive a newsletter it strengthens their view on your business or your brand.

“35 YouTube and Google Video are excellent portals on which to launch a viral campaign.”
Video marketing is a great way to really beef up your search engine optimization especially when you have a video that can spread like wild fire through the search engines.

This is just a sample of what needs to be done but all in all Bing has put together a great list of things every website owner should be performing to help strengthen their online image.
