Being an online marketer requires being somewhat aggressive but what happens when you are too aggressive? One thing you do not want to happen is anger your industry leaders if you are just starting out in the search space because you could find yourself on the losing end of a battle. Being proactive and aggressive with your marketing is perfectly normal but make sure you don’t cross the line otherwise you might have to start over.
What can happen to me if I get over aggressive with my online marketing?
Search Engine Penalties
If you are just getting started with your online marketing and you really don’t understand the ropes you could find yourself building links the wrong way that could eventually lead to negative repercussions with your website. Search engines do give out website penalties for business who abuse the marketing process even if you do it by accident.

Audience Turn Off
You could also find yourself dealing with an angry mob. Your audience could very well frown upon your approach if you push the boundaries too much. If you have an audience that does not respond well to an aggressive marketer you might find yourself in the hot seat and possibly with a reputation management issue if others start blogging about you, your company or your approach.
Over Saturation
Yes, you could water down your brand so much that people just don’t want to hear about it anymore. Most don’t have to worry too much about this but it does happen if you are in a very small niche with little amount of competition. If you have a very small niche online you could just over pounce on the opportunities available if you are too aggressive.
You have to take the time to understand your audience and what they want to see from you online. You also have to know when you are pushing the boundaries a bit too much so you keep your online image safe. All of this comes with time and understanding the landscape completely.
